The LeWave solar powered lantern has been a great addition to our camping kit. Here are some reasons why we like it.
- small and compact
- lantern can be hung or placed on a table
- lantern lights a large area
- has a flashlight option
- lantern automatically turns on when opened
- it is inexpensive
- it is solar powered
- has a quick charge option
- has USB charging option for iPhones etc.
We wanted a lantern style light for when we are cooking and doing things around camp after dark. While flashlights and headlights will do the job a lantern light is a more communal lighting experience lighting up a general area. It can also be left on a table or hung in the tent.
Another advantage of this particular lantern is that it is solar powered. You don’t need to worry as much about draining your precious flashlight batteries but can leave it on for longer periods of time. The next day you can just leave it out in a sunny area and it will slowly recharge.
We used the LeWave lantern on our recent week long camping trip. We left it on in the evenings to light up our cooking area so everyone could see. We had some friends camping with us and noticed that they would often use the lantern. I liked the fact that you could just leave it on the campground table not needing to worry about trying to hang it up somehow. It lit up the cooking area sufficiently so that everyone could easily see what they were doing.
During our week of using the lantern, I had no issues of running out of light power. We even forgot to bring it out of our tent a few times and leave it in the sun. When we did leave it out in the sun and daylight the solar power feature seemed to work fine.
The LeWave lantern is a great addition to our camping kit. It is maybe not the lightest or most hi-tech looking of the camping lanterns, but it is practically built and is light and inexpensive. These features made it worth every penny and we would recommend this as a satisfactory purchase for all campers who are looking for a lightweight way to light up their camp.
